A Royal Family Getaway: Our December Trip to Rajasthan ✨

Some trips stay with you forever… and our family vacation to Rajasthan was definitely one of those! Planned through Route Your Travel, this trip was all about history, culture, colours, and family bonding. With our two daughters – one a curious teenager (13) and the other a super-energetic 3-year-old – we knew we needed a mix of adventure, comfort, and flexibility. And Rajasthan delivered all that and more.

Jaipur – The Pink City Welcomes Us 🌸

We started our journey in Jaipur, and the city greeted us with its winter chill and warm hospitality. The girls were instantly wide-eyed at the sight of the Hawa Mahal with its hundreds of tiny windows. Our guide shared fun facts (which surprisingly even caught the attention of the 13-year-old 😄), while our little one was just happy running around in the open spaces. We explored the City Palace, took photos in colorful Rajasthani attire, and ended the day at the lively Chokhi Dhani village, enjoying puppet shows, camel rides, and traditional Rajasthani thalis.

  • Mesmerized by Hawa Mahal’s stunning facade
  • Fun facts and colorful history that even teens loved
  • Photos in Rajasthani dress at City Palace 📸
  • Cultural immersion at Chokhi Dhani with food, rides, and shows
  • Jaipur set the perfect tone for our Rajasthan trip – a mix of heritage, warmth, and lots of family fun.

Amer Fort Adventures & Elephant Encounters 🐘

A trip to Jaipur isn’t complete without visiting Amer Fort. The grandeur of the fort left us all stunned. The 3-year-old was fascinated with the echoing halls and colourful glass work inside Sheesh Mahal, while our elder daughter enjoyed clicking hundreds of Instagram-worthy shots. We even did an elephant ride, which turned out to be a fun, bumpy, and laughter-filled experience.

Jodhpur – The Blue City Beckons 💙

Next, we headed to Jodhpur. The Mehrangarh Fort was a highlight – towering above the city with breathtaking views. The girls loved listening to warrior stories, and the museum inside the fort had both of them engaged – a rare parenting win! Our little one found joy in simply running along the fort corridors while the elder one loved learning about old Rajput armoury and royal costumes. We also visited the Umaid Bhawan Palace and clicked family photos with the iconic blue streets in the backdrop.

Jaisalmer – Into the Golden Sands 🌅🐪

From Jodhpur, we moved towards the desert city of Jaisalmer. The journey itself was scenic, and once we arrived, the golden sandstone architecture made us feel like we had stepped into another era. The Jaisalmer Fort (a living fort) was fascinating for the kids. We explored small lanes full of handicrafts and vibrant textiles. But the biggest highlight? The Sam Sand Dunes Desert Safari! Riding in a 4x4 jeep across sand dunes, followed by a camel ride during sunset – the kids were absolutely thrilled. Our toddler squealed with excitement on the camel, and the elder one finally admitted, “Okay, this is cool!” We ended the evening with a cultural dance performance under the stars, sipping hot chai on floor mattresses while the folk music played on.

“Forts, deserts, food, culture – Rajasthan gave us adventure, bonding, and royal memories to last a lifetime.”

    Quick Stop at Bikaner – A Foodie’s Delight 🍬

On our way back, we made a quick stop at Bikaner for shopping and local delicacies. Famous for its bhujia and sweets, the town did not disappoint. Our elder daughter picked up cool souvenirs, while the little one was happy with sweets and running around the colorful markets.

Back Home with Royal Memories 👑

Finally, it was time to head back home. Tired but happy, with suitcases full of souvenirs, phones full of photos, and hearts full of memories. Rajasthan gave us something for everyone: - Forts, history, and culture for the grown-ups and teen - Open spaces, rides, and folk fun for the little one - Hassle-free planning and smooth logistics, thanks to Route Your Travel! A truly memorable family adventure that we’ll be talking about for years!
