After a leisurely breakfast, we drove towards Nuwara Eliya, often called 'Little England' thanks to its cool climate, colonial buildings, and picturesque tea gardens. The road journey itself was scenic with endless green hills and cascading waterfalls. We stopped at a tea factory en route where we learned about the tea-making process and enjoyed freshly brewed Ceylon tea. The rolling tea plantations were a photographer’s dream, and we spent quite some time capturing the beauty. Our hotel in Nuwara Eliya was charming, with its cozy English-style rooms, fireplaces, and beautiful garden views. The chilly weather added to the romance of the place. We took a stroll around Gregory Lake, enjoying the crisp mountain air.

Down to Bentota – From Hills to the Coast

The next morning, we set off for Bentota, the famous beach destination along Sri Lanka’s southwest coast. The long drive was made enjoyable thanks to our driver, who shared interesting stories and local facts along the way. Bentota welcomed us with golden sands and the calming sound of waves. Our hotel here was beautiful—right by the beach with stunning sunset views from our room balcony. The change in scenery from hills to beach was refreshing.

A Special Anniversary Surprise
